Bjni Fortress is a medieval fortress located in the village of Bjni in Kotayk Province. The fortress of Bjni was founded in the 9-10th centuries by the royal Pahlavuni family to defend the province of Nig and Bjni village in particular. Besides strong fortification and pyramid-shaped walls, it is protected by nature itself being surrounded by cliffs. It used to house other buildings which ruins are still preserved inside the fortress. The stone foundation of a church of the 5th century can be found near the fortress.
