Mount Ara - Ara Ler


Mount Ara (or Arayi Ler) is one of the most favorit hiking & ski touring destinations especially that it is located not so far from Yerevan. It is a volcanic cone; the slopes on the north and east are forested, with a high biodiversity.

The town of Zoravan and a nearby church, Gharghavank, are located along the mountain's lower slopes. The town of Yeghvard is on the outskirts of the mountain, and Tsaghkavank Monastery is on the valley of Arayi Ler.

Be aware of snakes and bears, especially if you take the northern slopes to hike. 

Spring is the best time to hike Arayi Ler, as the biodiverity will be blooming, promissing an astonishing scenery around.
