Zvartnots Cathedral

Location: Armavir Province

Distance from Yerevan:  20km / 25mins

Zvartnots Cathedral is believed to have been built in 643-652 by Catholicos Nerses the Builder. Zvartnots used to be completely unique, circular on the outside central-dome type three-floor building with outstanding decoration, of which only the ruins remain.

It is supposed to be built on the spot where Grigor Lusavorich met King Trdat, initiating the king’s conversion to Christianity.

The cathedral is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
