Jukhtak Monastery

Foundation: 11-12th centuries

Location: Dilijan, Tavush Province

Distance from Yerevan:  100km / 1 hour 40 minutes

Jukhtak Monastery is located in Dilijan National Park, 3.2 km north-west of Dilijan. The first church you will realize while arriving the Complex is St. Grigor, while to the west sits St. Astvatsatsin church.

Several khachkars skillfully decorated with floral and geometrical ornaments can be found at the Complex. 

You will be hiking for about 2 kilometers in the National Park up to the Monastery.

The complex:

  • St. Grigor (most possibly built in 11th or 12th century), a domed cruciform church, drum didn’t survive
  • St. Astvatsatsin (built in 1201 according to the inscription written upon it
