Matosavank Monastery

Foundation: 13th century

Location: Dilijan, Tavush Province

Distance from Yerevan:  100km / 1 hour 40 minutes

Matosavank is situated in Dilijan National Park, 3 km north-west of Dilijan. Matosavank was built by Avag Zakarian of the Orbelian Dynasty. The Monastery is constructed from roughly hewn stones and currently only the ruins remain. The Monastery is decorated with skillfully carved lacework khachkars. 

You will be hiking for about 3 kilometers in the National Park up to the Monastery.
