Gevork Marzpetuni Fortress (X-XIII c.)

Monastery-fortress complex Gevorg Marzpetuni is located 6 km North-West of Urtsadzor village of Ararat region. The complex was founded in the 10-13th century. The church located in the complex was founded in the 13th century. It was built of well treated stones of white felsite and was surrounded by fortress walls, four corners of which are strengthened with round towers. The fortress of this kind used to be an important military base in Armenia.
