Kayanaberd Fortress (1233y.)

Establishment: 1233y.

Kayanberd is located in Lori region in between Haghpat and Sanahin villages. Kayanberd was built by the leader of Haghpat Monastery Hovhannes Bishop in 1233. In 1241 the castle was destroyed during Tatar invasions. Inside the ruins, basins, andclay water pipes are still preserved. St. Astvatsatsin (St. Holy Virgin) church of Dsevank is in the vecinity.
